Privacy Policy

Both Forge apps are built to work entirely on your device. Neither has analytics, advertising, tracking, or an account or login. This policy explains, in plain terms, exactly what that means.
Who this policy covers
This policy applies to both Forge apps, published by the developer of Forge ("we", "us"), and to this website:
- TextQuay: File Convert for AI (bundle identifier
com.convertforai.forge) — iPhone, iPad and Mac. - CacheLantern: AI Storage Map (bundle identifier
com.convertforai.forgecleanermac) — Mac only.
Data we collect
None, from either app. Neither uses analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, shows adverts, or tracks you across apps or websites. We have no server that receives information about who you are, what you convert, what is on your disk, or how often you use either app.
Your files and conversions (TextQuay)
Everything TextQuay does happens on your device:
- Files you choose to import (PDF, Word, Excel, images, web pages and the other supported formats) are converted to Markdown locally, using on-device processing and Apple's on-device OCR where relevant.
- Imported originals and converted Markdown are saved together in the app’s local library. You choose where to save files you export.
- Nothing you convert is uploaded to us, and we never see the contents of your files.
Your disk and scan results (CacheLantern)
CacheLantern: AI Storage Map is sandboxed and can see nothing until you point it somewhere:
- On first run you grant access to your home folder through a standard macOS open panel. That grant is stored on your Mac as an app-scoped security-scoped bookmark and reused on later launches. The app requests no other entitlements — no Full Disk Access, no helper tool, and no network access.
- Scan results, file paths, sizes, settings and the Markdown reports the app can produce all stay on your Mac. Nothing is transmitted anywhere. If you export a report, you choose where it is saved.
- Anything the app removes is moved to your macOS Trash, where it stays until you empty it yourself. There is no permanent deletion and no secure erase.
- Usage counters shown in the app's own Settings are kept in local
UserDefaultson your Mac and are never transmitted.
Third parties
Neither app shares data with third parties, because neither collects any to share. There are no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution SDKs in either app. Apple handles in-app purchases (see below). Export destinations and sharing services are chosen by you and operate under their own privacy terms.
Account & login
Neither app requires an account or login of any kind. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing tied to your identity.
In-app purchases
Each app offers 14 days of free access, followed by a one-time, non-consumable lifetime unlock processed entirely through Apple's StoreKit 2 — £2.99 for TextQuay, £3.99 for CacheLantern. Neither is a subscription, and neither renews or charges you again. In CacheLantern the trial is entirely local, based on the date of first launch, with no server and no account involved. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple: we never see your card details, billing address or Apple ID beyond what StoreKit reports to confirm the purchase. The two apps are separate purchases; buying one does not unlock the other.
Children's privacy
Neither app is directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children, because we do not collect personal data at all. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us using the details below and we will look into it, though given how the apps are designed, there should be nothing on our side to find.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and similar data protection laws, you normally have rights to access, correct, delete or export personal data held about you. Because neither app collects or holds any personal data on any server, there is nothing for us to access, correct, delete or export on your behalf. Your files, Markdown results and scan results remain entirely on your device or in the export destination you choose, under your control.
International use
Since both apps process everything on-device and transmit nothing to us, no international data transfer takes place as part of using them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will change and the new version will be posted at this same address.
